An inspiring group of women Graceland graduates have created a philanthropy project that will have a long-lasting effect on our community. Ginelle Sakima Roberts, Kristi Hettrick, and Georgia Seagraves constructed this initiative with the female student body of Graceland in mind. “Graceland Women's Philanthropy Circle started with the intention to honor the legacy of amazing women who have been a part of Graceland’s history and to connect Graceland women all over the world,” says Sakima Roberts.
The ideal outcome for this initiative is to “create deep connections in a circle of generosity and empowerment”, connecting women with big ideas to women who can support those big ideas. The women of today deserve to feel supported in any endeavors they choose. Our generation is one with fire and a fighting spirit. We want to create lasting change. A big factor in the inability to accomplish change is a lack of money, support systems, or environment. The Women’s Philanthropy Circle Lady Yellow Jackets know how much potential we have as women, as a student body, as people.
The sky is the limit in terms of proposals. Anything you feel will benefit the women on campus and the women to come after us, put in writing and submit it to the official Women's Philanthropy Circle. If you want to send a group of women to a business seminar, submit it. If you want more women-friendly spaces on campus, submit it. This is the perfect opportunity to use your creativity to create meaningful lasting change. Our time as Yellowjackets doesn’t end when we graduate.
Some key players in making something this great a reality are Tiffany Smith, a part of the Graceland marketing team, Seagraves, head of creating the website for the philanthropy circle, Hettrick, head of the Institutional Advancement team, and, of course, Sakima Roberts.
