Experience the Spirit of Christmas with Jazz and Harmonium
By Alissa Caruso
Sounds of the Season is a festive and music-filled concert that invites students to come, enjoy live music, and spend time with friends. The concert will take place in the front lobby of the Shaw at 7:00 pm on December 10th. It will be a performance by Graceland’s jazz ensemble and Harmonium choir.
Jazz and Harmonium will perform their own pieces, as well as performing together. Solo performers include Riley Newendrop with Silver Bells, Sophia Lopez with Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, and Kenna Nickell with O Holy Night.
Along with the performance, there will be cookies, hot chocolate, cider, and other treats for the attendees to enjoy while they listen. Students can come and hang out in the lobby with friends while enjoying festive treats and music.
In an interview with Parker Worden, Director of Bands, he explains that Sounds of the Season is different from your traditional concert and it is more informal, allowing attendees to relax and enjoy each other’s company as well as the performance.
The atmosphere of openness is what he appreciates most about the concert and how the experience is very community-driven. Sounds of the Season is a great chance for students to come relax before finals and enjoy each other’s company while appreciating the music that fellow classmates have to share.
