Wild Wednesday

By Talina Sepulveda

This Wednesday is jam-packed with events going on around campus. We have GSG elections, the career fair, Ash Wednesday, and last but certainly not least we have the day of love, Valentine's Day.

GSG voting starts and ends this Wednesday from 8 am-5 pm on MyGraceland, so don’t forget to vote. This year's elections are one of the biggest elections Graceland has had in a long time.

Dave Schaal said, “I am so happy with both the quantity and quality of candidates. It's great to see many people running for office because it indicates the degree to which people care. As for the candidates themselves, they are all people with good experience, sound character, and an eagerness to provide leadership. This is good for Graceland.”

The career and internship fair thrown by the C.H Sandage School of Business will be held from 10 am-2 pm in the NSU Great Room. It is a wonderful opportunity for juniors and seniors to dip their toes in the career pond. With potential employer and internship opportunities, those who are looking should bring their resumes with them. Although only the juniors and seniors have internship opportunities, all students are welcome to attend and network with the companies present.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Lent is a way of remembering the events leading up to and including the death and rising of Jesus Christ. During the Lent season, many tend to fast, repent, and practice spiritual discipline. As this holy Easter season begins, Graceland missionary will be hosting a day of ashes, where you be allowed to have ashes bestowed upon you. If that is of interest to you, there will be a table set up in the NSU. Stop by during the listed times below:

8:00-8:15, 10:00-10:15, 11:00-11:15, 12:00-12:15, 15:00-15:15, 18:00-18:15, 21:00-21:15

Valentine's Day also happens to land on this wild Wednesday. Tell your loved ones and those close to you how much they mean to you. Give them a chocolate or two. Flowers, don’t forget the flowers. FYI - men like flowers too. Although the history of Valentine’s Day is seriously outdated, it's still a nice concept. Having a day dedicated to showing the people you love how much you love them is beautiful, especially today. Valentine's Day isn’t just for couples, if you share love for that person platonically or otherwise, let them know it.
